My Dear Boy

My dear boy
I wish somebody
had knelt on the
cold hard ground
to come to level
with your cerulean
blue eyes
With the softest of touch
wiped the rivers of
salty pearls
making their way down
from eyes,
the colour sky.

My dear boy
I wish
somebody had held
your dismal face
gently – with the softest
of touch
between hands,
two of their own
and offered you
for the
taking
their own smile.

My dear boy
I wish
somebody had
held you in a embrace
so tender
a match between
a single heartbeat.
and another;
to lull your ache,
sang
sweet, soothing
lullabies.

My dear boy
I wish
somebody had
forewarned you
the world is a
place, cruel
far too cruel
for souls
untouched,
pure and
light.
