Oh, I could warn you.
I could tell you to walk away
but I know you,
as I know myself,
and I know this
just as well;
you will fall,
oh you will plunge into
the depths of deep dark wells
and valleys stark cold.
You will let your heart break;
you will let it shatter,
bend and mould.
You’ll do it all one time,
then ten times again,
until the torture begins
to seem a sweet strain.
You will do this all
for the love of a man
to which you never
held any claim.
