The Beginning at the End [Masterpiece]

stranger

Strangers come and go as they please
Some stay a moment, others just pass you by
Some you remember for longer than a while
Some become lost through the passage of time

I met a stranger once – one too many times
Who stayed a moment before he had to say goodbye
With words, I’ve committed him to memory
Memories that will live long after I take my last sigh

An odd curiosity, in the way with which he allured me
Not love at first sight nor infatuation of any kind
It was admiration, just a peculiar fascination
With the mystic illustration of a human mind

So I did what any good artist would do
Art in the image of my words he – flawed
And beautiful, a model coloured with my essence
A Masterpiece hereafter remembered as
The Stranger with the striking smile

The end might not be as how you might have expected. I certainly didn’t envision it like so. A final thank you to all of you lovely folks for supporting me through my maiden journey as a writer. As the title may have has already suggested, this is not truly the end. It is the beginning of something new.

Please follow me on my new adventure as I write to my heart’s content in the “Letters to the Stranger.” You can read the first letter here! To read the rest of the Masterpiece Series please click here

Love Always,

      1. You are welcome 🙂 I rather love it this way…though, I understand that as the author, you may have expected to write it differently in your mind 🙂

      2. I think it is perfect in light of how you are beginning something new…your post notes bridge the two together as if one is being born out of the other…the image of the phoenix comes to mind… 🙂

      4. Thank you, Thomas. I highly respect your work, views and opinion. I am a fairly new writer. I’ve flirted with the idea of writing before, but never felt too connect to the art of words as I do now. To know that you’re able to connect in any capacity has to mean that I am doing something right. Much love to you! 🙂

  1. wow, I’m in awe of the words you twisted – “Memories that will live long after I take my last sigh” and “With the mystic illustration of a human mind” and “he – flawed / And beautiful, a model coloured with my essence”
it more than sums up. These lines and several others run down a hallway throwing open doors. The narrators progressed in this series, she’s turned corners and grown. It was an incredible journey. i can’t wait to see where the narrator goes next, the next phase of her development. She’s off to a running start, maybe she’s soar 🙂

    1. WOW Melinda! Thank you! Thank you so much for being a wonderful companion throughout this journey. I don’t think I could have made it so far without your constant support and feedback. I happy to hear that you were able to notice the progression of the narrator and changes she went through! I am very-very excited about the next series. Let’s see where the new road will take us 🙂

      1. You’re welcome. I read through the comments and I think the dispassionate voice is perfect because the narrator has moved on. Her masterpiece is complete; she no longer needs the ‘stranger with a smile’. So the poem is dead on in my humble opinion.

      2. You’re actually right on point! You’ve hit the nail on its proverbial head. I was a little upset because this wasn’t made of the same blood and sweat as it’s other companions. However, there wasn’t anything left to add creatively. So you’re right; it’s time to end this on a positive note and move on! 🙂
